Sirens 2023: Celebrating 7 Years of Sirens

THANK YOU FOR ANOTHER GREAT

SIRENS ON THE MOUNTAIN!

The spirits were with us!!!!!!

Thank you - everyone - for another amazing Sirens on the Mountain. We live this life to SHOW UP - for music, for family and friends, for each other, for our community. To develop a sustainable, Diverse And INCLUSIVE Arts community.  It was a grand success.

We do this, we did it Saturday, and Sunday we get up to…..well, clean up the party, but to the core - you know the deal, whatever the score, We Get Up to Do it AGAIN.  Thank you.  Thank you to our generous and talented performers, the Mermaid Mentors and Mentees, the Sirens of the Spoken Word, to the volunteers, to our Board of Directors, to the AUDIENCE.  We appreciate you. Thank you for showing up to be a part of the mission of the Mermaids.

You brought open hearts to share, a helping hand to lend, money to support the organization. You came with all of that and more. So many moments emblazoned in my heart,: Rayna Christian’s powerful spoken word, Ariail Lewis’ evocative paintings, her cunning portrait of a fox….and her keen sense of the color PEACH.  Ky Hogan’s atom bomb of heart song blasting through time to land with US in Todd.  The harmonies and stylings of Liz Lanham and her friend Ella stretching across the river valley, Elora Dash’s dips and twists of melody, SWANN and all Her SOARING STAR with trails of light dashing through our dusky sunset - THE BOONE BARBIES - ah, beauties - how your show slayed and your words and heart pierced through all the wind and worry and witty to bring us Truth in each of your glorious performances. Did we just host the first drag show in Todd?  Maybe so.  We had wind….a bit of rain, sunshine, autumn chill, star splash.  The day of SPIRIT reached its beautiful conclusion with QuickChester and Kyley Byrd’s sweet music, dancing through the mountains.  We are home.

Sirens on the Mountain is the culmination of our Mermaids Mentors Projects a celebration of creative and generous spirit. If you were unable to attend Sirens on the Mountain, you can still join our mission!  Go to mtnmermaids.org to find details on how both individuals and businesses can support us in developing a sustainable inclusive and diverse community in the high country.  We thank all of you who made Sirens on the Mountain such an amazing event. We look forward to the next one, but before that - stay tuned for details on our upcoming annual holiday party, The Sparklefest!  Sign up for the mailing list on our website to make sure you don’t miss it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Downtown Abby and the Echoes, Sirens on the Mountain 2018

How do I get to the new river barn?

From Boone, Take 194 North to Castleford and make a right. Take this about 4.5 Miles and make a left on River Road. 839 River Road is the first house on your left, and the numbers are marked on the post.

What happens if it rains?

The event is rain or shine. If it rains, bring your raincoat and a change of socks. We will see you in Todd. We will have fun no matter what.

What’s the deal with parking?

When you arrive at 839 River Road, pull off onto the grass along the side, and make sure all your vehicle's wheels are off the pavement. You may proceed by foot across the bridge, or wait for our golf cart to shuttle you in. The golf cart will be running all day until the conclusion of the festival. There are a few ADA reserved spots on the field. If you are ADA, please let the golf cart driver know and we will escort you onto the field.

You mentioned something about camping?

Primitive camping is allowed for a $10 suggested donation. Our golf cart driver will be happy to shuttle you and your gear across the bridge into the field to your site. Truly, no worries! Happy to help. We ask that you do NOT build an open fire (we will have a firepit, weather permitting.) Small gas camping stoves are allowed.

do kids get free admission?

Children under 12 years of age may attend free of charge. Young adults 12-18 are asked to pay $10 each.

May I bring my pet?

No. We find it is more enjoyable for everyone if people leave their pets at home. Of course, if you are ADA and have a service animal, that is fine. Please bring any necessary paperwork for your service animal.

What SHOULD I bring?

A camping chair and a flashlight. A sweater and warm clothes. A water bottle - a frisbee - a hula hoop. All your friends. If you are 21+, bring your ID. Maybe a picnic? or maybe not. because…..

Will there be food for sale?

We WILL be selling food. All proceeds benefit the mission of the Mountain Mermaids Collective. We will have burgers, veggie burgers, pimento cheese & spinach wraps and hummus wraps, with gluten free and vegan options. There will be cookies, chips, sodas and water for sale also. If you would prefer to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks, however, that is fine.

Will there be alcohol for sale?

Yes! If you want to drink beer, wine or cider, please bring a valid government issued photo ID. For $20, you will receive a “festive band” and 4 tickets for your beverage of choice. More tickets are provided upon request. We truly appreciate your support of our outreach with the purchase of a festive band.

As per our alcohol permit, NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED AT THE EVENT. We take this very seriously, as we want to continue hosting events like this. Please do not bring any liquor, beer, wine or cider INTO the event. If you are not in compliance, we will have to ask you to leave. Please bring good vibes only and NO OUTSIDE BOOZE! thank you.

Is the cell service any better than it used to be out there?

Not really. We apologize. We do have a landline at the main house for emergencies.

WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU ON THE MOUNTAIN!!!
